Host Family Accommodation
Host Family Accommodation
Host family accommodation enables students to have the unique experience of living with Irish families and become part of their family. Many students who have taken this option have stayed in touch with their host family and come back to visit on holidays.
GBS staff will choose the right family based on your individual needs. All our host families enjoy having international students and sharing their way of life with them. The majority of our host families are situated within close proximity to the school so students can either walk or take a short bus journey every day.
While living with your host family we would encourage students to help out around the house and take part in the day to day chores that the household would require. We would also encourage you to share your way of life with the host family and teach them about your culture. This helps you bound with your host family and will be very beneficial for your spoken English and vocabulary.
Host family accommodation is only available to students who have enrolled on a course in the Galway Business School. It can be booked for a minimum of 7 nights and staying for longer periods can be easily arranged. All bookings of extensions must be made through GBS and not through the host family.
You are provided with half-board during the week (Breakfast and dinner), and full-board at weekend (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner). Dinner usually takes place between 18.00 and 19.30. It is important you are on time for meals or notify the family if you are going to be late. Students are not allowed to cook their own dinner or use the cooking facilities.
It is important to remember you are guest in the host family’s home, so behave appropriately, keep your room clean and compile with any curfew that may be in place.
