How is the degree structured?

The degree places an emphasis on the practical application of theory.

Adding practical, experiential and an international aspect to this programme, the study abroad trip will include a series of lectures and company visits in an international setting.

Delivery Modes

 The Bachelor of Business (Hons) with International Business is delivered in both a full-time (day) and part-time (evening) basis. 

Full-time mode

If you decide to study full-time, you will have classes over four days during the week, usually starting midday.

You will take part in case studies and group activities which foster a problem-based learning. Exercises such as online business simulations and new business planning projects will help you and your classmates develop imaginative thinking.

Part-time mode

If you will study part-time, it will be over two evenings each week, over two semesters. Workshops, tutorials, company visits and guest speakers will be introduced throughout the course to enrich the learning experience.

Assessment

You’ll be assessed through a combination of continuous assessment and examinations throughout the programme. 

 These can take the form of:

  • Written examinations
  • Individual and group projects
  • Mock interviews
  • Presentations

This allows students to use your academic skills and capabilities to the maximum, while supporting different learning styles.

Entry requirements

For the Bachelor of Business (Honours) with International Business all learners must have already completed an ordinary or pass degree, at level 7 of the National Framework of Qualifications.

It you don’t hold a level 7 degree, you cannot gain entry on to the Bachelor of Business (Hons) with International Business, but you might be interested in our Bachelor of Business ordinary degree, level 7.

English language requirements for international students

Non-native speakers of English must have an English language level of IELTS 6.5+ or its equivalent for this degree programme.

All international learners must complete a mandatory Pre-Sessional Business English course prior to the beginning of all Galway Business School academic programmes.

This programme will provide learners with an intense focus on Academic English in order to provide international learners with the analytical tools needed to study a full undergraduate course at Galway Business School.

This is a mandatory requirement and the course will take place in our English language school in Galway, Ireland.
