This University Foundation Programme prepares students to progress on to higher education in Ireland at Undergraduate Level. The Galway Business School (GBS), in conjunction with our sister company, Galway Cultural Institute (GCI), offers English language classes with subject specific knowledge in the streams of Business, Science or Engineering. Students who successfully pass this programme at the requisite level will be given conditional letters of offer to partner colleges and universities.

This course is delivered on a full-time (Day) basis. Students will benefit from small class sizes and close interaction with lecturers in the English and Business modules. Additional workshops and tutorials will be provided to students throughout the school year to assist students in their study.
Applicants must have completed 12 years of High School with all pass grades (C or above) or equivalent.
Non-native applicants must have a minimum IELTS 5.5 with no individual component less than 4.5 from a recognised IELTS testing centre. If you do not meet the minimum English language requirements for direct entry to the Foundation year, you may undertake one of our English language programmes to bring you up to the requisite level for Undergraduate study.
You will be assessed through a combination of continuous assessment and examinations throughout the programme. These can take the form of written examinations, individual or group projects, mock interviews and presentations.
Students who successfully pass this programme at the requisite level will be given conditional letters of offer to partner colleges and universities. Successfully completing this programme will serve as an excellent and formally recognised bridge between a student’s current educational qualification and further studies in a higher education setting; one which will be welcomed by top-ranking Irish institutions.
