Bank Accounts
Setting up a bank account
If you require a Visa to study at the Galway Business School and have a passport from a country outside the EEA, you will need to open a bank account during your stay in Ireland. We work alongside the AIB bank in Salthill to assist students in opening their bank accounts and making the process as easy for you as possible.
In your first few days at the Galway Business School, please inform the GBS academic team if you need to open a bank account. We can arrange for you to attend our weekly meeting which provides you with information, a list of documentation, and the terms you need to follow to open a bank account. You will also be shown how to use online banking to make your banking more accessible.
Setting up a bank account is required for registering with the Garda National Immigration Bureau (GNIB) and will help you when you are looking for work.
You will need a completed bank application form, your passport, proof of address and a letter from the school to open up a bank account.
