Buses in Galway

There are two bus companies in Galway City, Bus Eireann and City Direct, who provide a good bus service throughout Galway City. On the ground floor notice board you can find an up to date timetable of all the buses which service the Galway Business School.

Bus Eireann

Bus Eireann services operate many of the long distant routes in and out of Galway City. They also service short routes within the city and suburban areas. The standard bus fare on a Bus Eireann bus within the city region is €2.70 per adult, but students benefits of discounted rates with a valid student card. 

Main routes for Bus Eireann

401 – Salthill

The Bus Eireann 401 leaves Salthill every twenty minutes during the weekdays and every forty minutes on Sunday.

402 – Knocknacarra, Shangort Road

The 402 services the route between the Shangort Road and Seacrest every thirty minutes during the weekday and every sixty minutes on Sundays.

405 – Knocknacarra, Rahoon

The Bus Eireann route,  405, services the Knocknacarra and Rahoon every twenty minutes during the weekdays and every forty minutes on Sundays.

City Direct

City Direct services the Knocknacarra and Rahoon areas of Galway City. Many of our learners have accommodation in these areas so may find City Direct a more convenient option to use. The price for bus tickets on a City Direct bus is similar to Bus Eireann but City Direct offer discount rates to GBS students. 411 – Knocknacarra, Cappagh Road

The 411 services Knocknacarra to Eyre Square. It leaves Knocknacarra, via the Cappagh Road, every thirty minutes except for Sundays when it runs every 60 minutes.

412 – Knocknacarra, Western Distributor Road

The 412 only operates on weekdays and leaves Knocknacarra every 30 minutes. It travels from Knocknacarra to Eyre Square via the Western Distributor road.

414 – Barna

The 414 services the Barna area and travels, via Lombard Street,  to Eyre Square. Please check the City Direct website for the 414 bus times Route 414
